by Sophia Ruan Gushée

Disconnect to Connect for Your Brain Health and Overall Wellbeing

In March, we are meditating on the brain to pursue a gentle, organic detox of it. Some powerful memes for this month:

  • disconnect to reconnect
  • prioritize time to be unplugged

Eating healthy and maintaining your social networks are two brain-healthy activities

by Lily Kamp and Sophia Ruan Gushée

by Sophia Ruan Gushée

Making breakfast for my children is feeling harder each week. We're all sick of having the same thing. And trying to make it a healthy breakfast is even harder!

One simple recipe that helps is a homemade pie that's so healthy that I serve for breakfast, snacks, and dessert. Made mostly of squash, it's relatively healthy and gives me a break from our routine.

According to the School of Public Health at Harvard, winter squashes are rich in the following...

by Sophia Ruan Gushée

Our toxic exposures is a complex topic. However, effective solutions can be simple.

After studying an average family's toxic exposures and sharing what I wish I knew sooner in my nearly 500-page book A to Z of D-Toxing: The Ultimate Guide to Reducing Our Toxic Exposures, I noticed a practical strategy in reducing our toxic exposures: Go back to basics.

Yesterday, I had the honor of speaking to employees at BlackRock, a global investment firm that is based in NYC. I was invited by the Families at BlackRock and Mindfulness networks to share 10 Simple Tips for Healthier Living.

One question they asked of me in advance was, How do you prevent a toxic mindset and stay positive?

As I prepared my presentation with that question in mind, I couldn't help but be honest: yoga. My yoga practice guided me towards...

You could have EMF sensitivity, and not yet know it

Those with EMF sensitivity feel much better in nature, and some feel more healing from skin to earth contact

by Sophia Ruan Gushée

I suspect that EMF sensitivity (also referred to as electromagnetic hypersensitivity and electromagnetic sensitivity) may become as common an allergy as are nut allergies. And with so many people addicted to your phone (I'm guilty of that too), it makes sense that EMF sensitivity will increase.

The good news is that once you are aware that you are...

by Sophia Ruan Gushée

Should we be worried about the 5G rollout?

5G is the next wireless communication network that is supposed to work even better: with greater speed for a greater bandwidth of data transmission. (Most of us currently use 4G.)

You can read more in my article "What is 5G and the internet of things (iot)?"

5G will be rolled out worldwide, and aggressively throughout the United States. This has many people wondering, Will the 5G rollout be safe for...

Homemade lemonade is a healthy family- and after-school activity

by Sophia Ruan Gushée

My 9-year-old loves making lemonade. There have been several occasions during which I have watched her work really hard to squeeze a dozen lemons manually for her small glass of lemonade. Impressed and touched by her determination and work ethic, I decided to blow her mind (and give her hands and fingers a break) with a Breville citrus juicer. It has brought many benefits into our family.
