Heart Detox Gift Guide

energy gift guides healing healing spaces heart Feb 05, 2019

In February, we're tending to our hearts and working on cultivating love and good feelings. Included in February's strategy is creating more mindful boundaries from technology, especially in the evening.

It helps if you can replace old habits with enjoyable (and healthy) new ones. So part of our objective in February is to suggest healthy and healing replacement habits and rituals.

This gift guide is here to help! The product selections below offer lovely and practical ideas for you to incorporate healing into your life. It will be updated over time.

1. Create a Technology "Home"

Use a product like the one below to compartmentalize your household's technology. A wonderful goal is to incorporate the use of this at the start of your household's bedtime routine. You can read how I try to use the technology charging station in my family: "Create a bedtime routine for your technology."

2. Keep Distance from Your Laptop or Other Smart Devices

EMFs from laptops and other wireless devices can harm sperm quality. Studies on how it may affect women and developing reproductive systems (like in children or those undergoing puberty) have not been sufficiently pursued. So we'll know more in future decades. In the meantime, if you want to take precautionary measures, use a product like the one below to create distance between your body and the technology.

3. Use Corded Telephones to Help Reduce Your EMF Exposures from Wireless Phones

Cell phones and cordless phones emit EMFs that can be stressful on your brain, sleep, energy, and body. I have a phone that is similar to the one in the image below. It prompts conversations with guests, which helps spread awareness about EMF exposures from wireless technologies and how we communicated before there were cell phones.

For parents who struggle with keeping children safe from the Internet, a corded family phone in a "public" space (like in a kitchen or family room) can help compartmentalize children's Internet usage. This is especially effective when accompanied with house rules, like all technology to the "technology home" by a certain time and all phone calls in the kitchen or family room.

5. Forest Bathing: How Trees Can Help You Find Health and Happiness

As we try to use our time mindfully, healthy alternatives to online social networking is needed. One wonderful goal: Getting reacquainted with nature!

The book Forest Bathing by Dr. Qing Li, the world's foremost expert in forest medicine, is a beautiful resource to browse after your technology goes to bed. Dr. Li discusses how forest bathing can reduce stress and blood pressure, strengthen your immune and cardiovascular systems, boost your energy, mood, creativity, and concentration, help you lose weight, and live longer.

"Once you've discovered the healing power of trees, you can lose yourself in the beauty of your surroundings, leave everyday stress behind, and reach a place of greater calm and wellness."

6. Well and Good Cookbook

Another wonderful activity to replace liberated time from digital screens is cooking!

I'm honored to be included among Well and Good's handpicked "100 wellness superstars." We were asked to contribute one recipe that we use in our homes. Pre-order your copy for a beautiful, nutrient-dense addition for your kitchen and diet. Recipes were selected to help you eat your way towards better skin, sleep, mood, energy, focus, digestion, and sex.
